INTRO: a project-in-process

The ClimateScope is a participatory project for wide public. It requires public involvement and concerns of important questions about our future.

The focus: The issues concerning climate change are topics that are seen in public debates on a daily basis. However, understanding its influences and tracing actual signs of it in our environment is a work which is commonly left to scientists. The project ClimateScope is engaging the public in the issue of climate change by involving the citizens in the fieldwork. The project is thought out as a long-term project of several years.

The format: It is planned as a web-based project; the online platform is developed as a map-based application that is divided into three layers, each of them with different participation possibilities: CITIZEN STORIES, CITIZEN SCIENCE and CITIZEN SENSOR.

The method: “Citizen science is a term used for projects or ongoing program of scientific work in which individual volunteers or networks of volunteers, many of whom may have no specific scientific training, perform or manage research-related tasks such as observation, measurement or computation.” (wikipedia)
